Harmonized Tariff Services LLC (HTS LLC), considers your privacy a high priority. This privacy statement explains what information HTS LLC gathers from you through our web site and how we use it. HTS LLC obtains basic information about you when you first visit our Web Site through the use of "cookies," which are small text files that our Web Site sends to your browser so that we can "recognize" you when you pay us a return visit. We aggregate the data derived from the cookies to improve our Web Site's effectiveness. If you are concerned about the use of cookies, you may configure your web browser to either request your specific acceptance of a cookie or disable cookies entirely. You will still be able to fully navigate the "public" portion of our web site if you choose to refuse or disable cookies. However, some features of the web site, including all Decision Pyramids™, will not be available to you and will not work.
The "Clients Only" part of our Web Site, which includes all Decision Pyramids™, will invite you to register with us and obtain a Client ID and Password so that we can set up your Client Account. You will be invited to give us your full name and your company's name, address, phone & fax numbers, e-mail address and other critical information. When you use one of our fee-for-service Decision Pyramids™ to obtain the HTS classification and import duty rate applicable to your product, we will keep a record of your completed and incomplete "drill-downs." We use this information to generate invoices because our Decision Pyramids™ are fee-for-service. You will have full access to these records, and you may (1) check the accuracy of the invoices we send you; (2) re-visit completed drill-downs to regenerate copies of the associated International Footwear Information Document™ or other documentation (without additional charge) and (3) complete your incomplete drill-downs (for the appropriate fee).
We will only use that information to fulfill the purpose for which it was supplied to us. We do not share personal information with third parties except as necessary to carry out our business or as required by law or other legal processes, and we never sell your personal information. We use reasonable precautions to keep the information that is disclosed to us secure. However, we are not responsible for any breach of security by any third parties or for any actions of any third parties that receive, legally or illegally, any of the information that is disclosed to us. Our Web Site links to other web sites, such as U.S. Customs CROSS rulings web site; we are not responsible for the privacy policies of the web sites of third parties or how they treat information about their users.
No other client of HTS LLC has access to your records; in fact, no other client of HTS LLC even knows that you are one of our clients (unless you tell them). Every once in a while, two different clients (usually a buying agent and her retailer) will access our Footwear Decision Pyramid™ and determine the HTS classification & duty rate and generate an IFID™ on the identical style of footwear. (This is also a fairly frequent occurrence in our lab, where we will receive the identical style of footwear from two different clients, usually within a few days of each other.) HTS LLC treats these duplicates as completely separate transactions: We will charge both clients for whatever services are required, and IN ORDER TO PROTECT YOUR PRIVACY AND TO PRESERVE CLIENT CONFIDENTIALITY, WE WILL NOT NOTIFY EITHER CLIENT OF THE DUPLICATION.
For certain features available through the Web Site, we use encryption technologies to safeguard your information. We also require you to use your Client ID and Password when using the "Client Only" features of our Web Site. We protect the privacy of your Client ID, Password and Client Account information by utilizing a Secure Socket Layer ("SSL") connection. However, you are ultimately responsible for protecting your Client ID, Password and Client Account information from disclosure to third parties, and you are not permitted to circumvent the use of required encryption technologies. You agree to: (a) immediately notify HTS LLC of any unauthorized use of your UserID, password and/or account, and/or any other breach of security, and (b) ensure that you exit ("log off") from your Account at the end of each session. While we provide certain encryption technologies and use other reasonable precautions to protect your confidential information and provide suitable security, we cannot guarantee or warrant that information transmitted through the Internet is secure, or that such transmissions are free from delay, interruption, interception or error.
